Artificial stone products have a number of advantages: they are quite strong, resistant to the negative effects of sunlight, high temperatures, and humidity; thanks to their dense structure, they do not absorb dirt, are not susceptible to bacteria and mold, and do not require special care. That is why artificial stone is increasingly used for finishing bathrooms, kitchens, and dining rooms. It is used to produce windowsills, countertops, sinks and basins, bar counters, and much more.
Which artificial stone to choose?
The most common are products made of artificial acrylic stone and quartz agglomerate. What is the difference between them? Acrylic stone is essentially a composite material. It is called “stone” because it really resembles stone in appearance and is many times stronger than ordinary plastic. Quartz stone or agglomerate consists of 93% quartz, the rest is acrylic resins.
Products made of quartz stone will cost more than those made of acrylic, but they are also much stronger. A countertop made of acrylic stone will not show knife scratches, even if you don’t use a cutting board. You can place hot pots on it; it is not affected by coloring pigments and does not fade. However, in the production of countertops and other products made of quartz stone, there are design limitations. Products made of acrylic stone can be of any shape and color.
Care recommendations
There are no difficulties in caring for artificial stone products. Initially, the surface of the product may have different polishing options (matte, semi-gloss, and gloss), but over time, with frequent cleaning, the surface will become glossy.
Dust and food residues are easily removed with regular soap and a damp cloth. It is not recommended to use strong cleaners based on ammonia or acetone, or powders. To remove heavy dirt, use soft creamy cleaning agents — this will protect the surface from scratches and other damage.
To disinfect artificial stone countertops and sinks, use diluted liquid bleach or a chlorine solution. After disinfection, rinse the surface thoroughly with water.
Despite the fact that artificial stone is resistant to high temperatures, it is better not to place hot dishes directly on the surface — over time this may lead to damage, and in the case of acrylic stone products, even to color distortion.
A designer-measurer visit costs 1500 UAH (when ordering products, the cost of the visit is included in the product price)
